Custom Order Garners Positive Response

At shows, I occasionally receive requests for a size or frame that I do not have with me. In those cases I do offer to create the size and frame combination requested. When Alexandra came to the Kutztown Folk Festival, she knew what she wanted. I however, didn’t have the combination of matted print size and desired frame style with me. In fact I wasn’t even sure I had the frame she wanted in stock or that I could get one.

Luckily, I did have the frame style she wanted and was able to ship her a finished piece exactly to her specifications. That felt good. But what was even nicer was Alexandra’s email to me after receiving her finished artwork.

She wrote -

“Hi Paul, so happy to receive my framed artwork!  It arrived beautifully and is just awesome!!  I can’t believe you were able to get the walnut and black frame!!  Thanks a million! It was my pleasure to do business with you. Thanks very much, I know that I will enjoy my artwork for many years to come!”

The print Alexandra chose was Snow and Sand matted and framed to 18″x24″

“A Sense of Place” – A Two-person Show

I am in the process of preparing for a two-person show at the Artists’ Gallery      starting August 5. I have the great pleasure of joining with oil-painter Materese Roche  for this special event. The show is named “A Sense of Place: Visions of Land, Sea, and Sky“‘

Materese had this wonderful idea to do a collaboration whereby we both present one piece  based on a mutual scene. The scene we selected is one from my trip to Acadia National Park in Maine this past June. I presented it to her as a RAW image without any development on my part so that she is not influenced by my own remembrance of the scene or my personal aesthetic and emotional response. We will also both be presenting our collaborative piece in approximately the same size. Neither of us will see the other’s rendition until we hang the show.

Here are the specifics: Show Reception – August 6, 5:00-8:00 pm, Show run dates – August 5 – September 2.

Audubon Art and Craft Festival – Hawley, PA

This weekend I will be exhibiting and selling new work at a fun event in Hawley, PA. The  Audubon Art and Craft Festival  has become an anticipated summer event around Lake Wallenpaupack with it’s fine selection of art and fine craft. During the show there will also be live animal presentations and talks.

Among my new works will be the piece below made during my recent trip to Acadia National Park in Maine. The image depicts Newport Cove and part of the rocky coast so indicative of Acadia.  Titled Cove View, this verticle composition emphasizes the amazing warm color and geometry of the foreground rock and cool water and contrasting sky tonalities. I was also looking to unify the composition with multiple triangular forms (my favorite shape after the circle). I used a Canon EOS 5D Mark II with a Canon EF 17-40mm L lens on a tripod. Also used were a Polarizing filter and a Split Neutral Density filter to even out the sky and foreground exposure.

"Cove View" framed to 16x20 for $195.00
