Sure the festival ended last Sunday, another really nice day too. The weather was great, the last weekend attendance was strong and I was happy with the response to my work (especially my newest work). But, the orders I took were an ongoing process until today when I shipped (I use UPS) my last works. There is actually one order left for which I am awaiting frames.
To keep things complete, I will mention that the first print sold on the 9th day was of a chipmunk, an image I titled Lookout. This is a photo I made at Hawk Mountain in PA. He seemed to have a very predictable route along a runway (fallen log) that had a small branch sticking up. Every time he got to this point, whether he was coming or going, he would climb up to the top, look around, and continue on. I pre-composed the image with a background I liked and waited for him to come back. Sure enough. My BA in animal behavior paying off, right?

Really nice image. The background is very beautiful.
Nicely composed shot Paul. I have had similar moments – those chipmunks really need to mix it up a bit if they want to fool us!
Not surprising someone liked this as a print. I think they are one animal that people seem to bond with and connect with nature – from them being around campsites, backyards, etc.
Thanks Roberta, I was very plesaed with the background. Of course I had plenty of time to work it out just the way I wanted.
Mark, you’re right. Nothing like paying for 4 years of college to figure out a chipmunk:) You’re right too about the importance of bonding with the subject.
