Back to Work

I’m finally getting back into the swing of things after a nasty germ kept me down for over a week. Uunfortunately, in that time, I missed two shows and a television appearance. My overall record for missing shows due to illness is still very good, but I hate losing an event (let alone two).

Being sick even for a short time reminded me how important good health is and how often I forget how great it feels to be well and able to do everyday things. It also reminded me how great simple foods taste after not eating much for days. It’s interesting how accentuated the senses become to ordinary pleasures after they are denied for even a short time.

After a few days of just feeling really lousy, I began to watch TV again and rediscoverd the History Channel, the National Geographic Channel and PBS. I’m a much more educated guy than I was a couple weeks ago on subjects ranging from great battles to the latest dinosaur finds and how sex affected politics throughout the 20th century.

I’ve got a lot of catching up to do with email and other correspondance. I’ve got a trip planned and some other activities arranged this month. And, based on how the grass is greening up, it may be getting real close to the seasons first mowing. Yea!

Next Up – Philly (area)

The Sugarloaf Crafts Festival in Somerset, NJ was well attended! I was very pleased that my newest images were so well received. Previous patrons of my work came to see me on the first day of the show (Friday), and Saturday and Sunday brought good crowds.

Next up is a Sugarloaf Crafts Festival show in Oaks, PA (near Valley Forge). The image below of a male cardinal on ice-covered branches (titled On the Rocks) was one of several new pieces that were available at Somerset, NJ and purchased for home or office.

Blogging for Crafters

On request of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, I gave a talk today about blogging as a marketing tool. My presentation was one of four that dealt with a variety of on-line marketing strategies. It was a good example of the kind of valuable classes offered by the State Guild. Held at the Guild’s headquarters (Lancaster, PA), the class was well attended by a very attentive audience.

First Show of 2009 – Coming Up

On the weekend of March 13-15 I will be exhibiting at my first show of the year – Sugarloaf – Somerset, NJ. This has become a regular event for me and is now my only appearance in the state of New Jersey. I’m looking forward to getting the show year going. Come by and see me in space 628! Whew, March is going to be a busy month.
