Preparing for Marathon

Well not really, but I am preparing for a 9-straight day marathon of a show – The Kutztown Festival in Kutztown, PA. If you are anywhere near the area, you may have seen the billboards already. Here’s a link to their website – http://www.kutztownfestival.com/.

This is certainly the hardest 9 days I’ve ever worked. Last year after commuting and doing the 9am-6pm hrs and commuting back, I was grabbing a quick dinner and then in the studio til 11:00pm printing, matting and framing. The weekend crowds were big and even the weekday crowds were impressive, especially if the weather was good. Well over 100,000 people attended during the 9 days and apparently from all over the country. I had purchases made by folk from 7 different states the first day. I try to make my pictures placeless, that is of universal appeal and interest, and I think the response suggested a level of success.

As frames I’ve ordered arrive and I have some matting orders finished, I will complete the remaining orders from Peddlers’ Village. With just over two weeks left before Kutztown, I’ll be trying to anticipate which imagery will be in highest demand. That is almost an impossible task.

Last year, this image below (titled Flowers for Her) was well received. It depicts a female Cardinal in a flowering crab apple tree. The colors of the blossoms and of the female’s feathers are subtle and indicative of Spring. This print is offered in the 8×10 size (approx.) and matted to a standard frame size of 11×14 for $45.00 plus tax.
